Help please-no music in Imagination program

#1 Post by zarg2 »

I'm trying to do a slideshow using imagination and when I import music it does not show up in the audio area. Program ver is 3.02 r1. DEB site shows a 3.03 ver in SID repos but I am reluctant to risk borking my mx14 by installing it.

I hope for your sake that someone here uses the program. Failing that, I see from the Debian packages page that it requires ffmpeg encoder to be installed, which is only listed as recommended in Synaptic. Do you have that installed?

If you want to import .mp3 files into your slide show, you have to install libsox-fmt-mp3. Make sure libxox-fmt-alsa is installed also, if you're using Alsa. In fact, you might as well install all of the libsox-fmt packages through the libsox-fmt-all metapackage.

thanks. I will try both solutions tonight and see how it goes. I sucessfully used the programb4 in ubuntu 12.04 but don't want to install the os just to get Imagination to work. ;)

Oh, it'll work, believe me. There's no need to install a different version of Imagination or a different OS in order to get sound in your slideshow.

@zarg2, why don't you put in a request to have the sid/Jessie version of Imagination added to the CR?

Mainly to keep him from using the sid repos

But if the recommended sox packages are indeed all that's required, a backport of the Sid package wouldn't solve the problem.

yep, I will try joany's solutions this evening and post the results here. I think I'm maybe one of a 100 people that actually use imagination so backporting the sid version would be a lot of trouble to go to.
