I removed vlc to fix some dependencies and now I get this:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vlc-nox : Depends: libswscale2 (>= 6:9.1-1) but 6:0.8.9-1 is installed.
Is it something that affects MEPIS users too?

Re: VLC doesn't install
This is fixed for MX-14-beta2. But beta1 is broken without quite a bit of hackery.
No idea if it affects MEPIS users

Re: VLC doesn't install
For beta 1, these aptitude commands worked to upgrade VLC (as root, of course)
I have a feeling these may come in handy for later situations.
Code: Select all
aptitude dist-upgrade -t wheezy-backports
aptitude dist-upgrade -t mx

It sure came in handy for Mepis 12 (only first line). VLC (now 2.1.2 from bpo) was upgraded..
Code: Select all
ko@lappy:~$ su
Password:
root@lappy:/home/ko# aptitude dist-upgrade -t wheezy-backports
