Re- Clementine.

The one that gets installed is from the MEPIS CR repo which does not have some depends that the version in Wheezy installs.
So, I will add the extra to the meta-installer. This is what i did after installing clementine using the meta-installer and commenting out the mepiscr repos.

Code: Select all

(Excuse my lack of skills; I'm at my limits here!)

So essentially that would be what I did by completely removing the CR version, then installing as a .deb?

Yes.

I have uploaded a newer meta-installer deb that should fix this issue. Don't know when it will be ready for download though.
You would have to make sure the new meta-installer deb gets installed before trying to install clementine though.

Actually, Clementine is still broken if you use the install-meta app since it installs version 1.2 from the mepis community repo. The version in Debian wheezy 1.0.1 works just fine.

Has anyone running MX-14-beta1 managed to get Clementine from the mepiscr working and if so, how?

I'm thinking that there is some dependency missing when Clementine 1.2 is installed

I found the problem.
The Clementine in the M12 CR was compiled against libtag1c2a & libtag1-vanilla 1.8-2 (the newest available at the time), also in the M12 CR, because the wheezy version was too old for it.

Since that time, Wheezy-backports released version 1.9-2 of those libraries, and that's what MX-14 has installed.
Clementine works fine if you force them back to the CR version.

Or Clementine could be rebuilt against the wheezy-backports version.

I installed the recommended gnome-media and it seems to work all right, except for starting in minimized mode.

I just repeated this in my clean install side, using the terminal. That way, gnome-media comes in automatically, and--to my surprise--clem opened up in the standard way, and then worked.

Thanks Tim.

We'll have to decide which of the repos take priority. We have Mepis, mepiscr, debian wheezy, wheezy-backports and antiX.
The 'problematic ones are mepiscr and debian-backports since some of the apps clash with relation to libs.
For example, on a fresh MX-14-beta1, if you comment out the mepiscr repo, than some audio related libs get upgraded.
If you want to install samba, you must do it from wheezy-backports due to conflicts of libsmbclient (I think).

Do we want wheezy-backports to take priority? If so then a dist-upgrade with debian backports installs a load of stuff to take the iso well over 700MB.

Jerry, did you play a file or cd? Try playing a mp3 file if you haven't done so.

DVD. mp3 doesn't play in Clem, though VLC handles it just fine...
