Anyone watching the new HBO series Chernobyl? 2 episodes in and it's pretty good I must say.

Unlike made-up movies, Chernobyl goes under the skin especially for those of us who remember when it happened.

Amazing. The design, engineering and construction of the structure was a monumental task. The outer shell and moving it into place is amazing in itself. But the internal robotics to dismantle the reactor takes it to a new level.

Thanks for the photo, Rich...hard to get my mind to understand the fact that the structure is actually 30 stories high. From afar, it just looks like your average WWII era Quonset hut

Paul, yes the photo does not do it justice. Actually it was originally a gif showing it moving into place. I had to convert it to be able to post. Still looked like a moving Quonset hut as a gif.

Wow I just watched a documentary on the mega tomb on YT. What struck me is one single error could have wiped out their entire project, or taken years to fix. I mean imagine if it slipped off the sliding path, or fell while being hoisted into place. Something that big would take years to fix. That's crazy pressure and giant kudos to those engineers who accomplished it!
