Fake motor sound doesn't work well yet.
at have questionable

A few folk here use devices like high pitched air (motion) powered noise-makers or a couple of other 'deterrent' style device, along with some surfacing and reflector trials but nothing seems particularly effective. With the Stuart Highway for instance, there are cattle grids every so many kilometres, but in effect, the main highway passes through grazing land with free roaming cattle and sundry wildlife and introduced critters like the camels, pigs and goats. Serious locals tend to drive things like utes or cab 4x4s, a Landcruiser or something, with big bad bull bars and a sporting arena's worth of lighting protruding from the top (Destroyer class spotlights for roo shooting are obligatory). Confederate flags are rare as hen's teeth here, but you might spot some good old bourbon paraphernalia. Mr Beam and Mr Daniels seem popular ones.

It sounded like situation ethics to me, which parents loudly opposed when it was introduced into our schools in the US in 1970's and 1980's.
I worked in a small school in a small town and ultimately it split the community right down the middle.
However I thought the community split was the fault of the owner and editor of the town newspaper.

I will stop here.

I do not want this post to turn into a political or religious one.

Certainly questioned, I'll agree to disagree on that.

How to make a robot operate safely is another story for me. There some paralells to ethics, but I think what they would call robot ethics is a metaphor for ethics. Not because I'm asuming free will, but because I want to stress programmability.
After the revelations concerning VW and emissions programming I suspect there will eventually be government oversight.
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Harley rider!

Mule Deer out here. Then Armadillos. At night. They come down off the mountains to drink and feed,
Different kind of desert out here than down under.

Speed Limit when I hit a road like above. 75MPH. We have 85MPH Freeways. You do not go flat out at night on that above road after dark. Cuz medivac takes a long time to reach you.

On a positive note. Terlingua chili cook off is this weekend.

Robot car? I don't think so. My rides.. On the way to the cook off previously.
Not much room for error there.

I don't think the morals of self driving cars will ever be resolved. They are still trying to justify the cars' actions.
Here is another thread on it.
