New MX wallpapers - first draft

#1 Post by vinzv »

Hi,

I made myself some MX wallpapers with the logo placed in various way. Get them here in 1920x1080px resolution - and of course tell me if you like them! ;)

Welcome, vinzv!

I like the refinement you have brought to the MX logo, even when highly magnified.

As for the wallpapers, I prefer the one with the small logo in the bottom corner so it doesn't obstruct my view of the mountains.

mx-mountain-1_big_text.png is the best of the rest, IMO. Logo + name. That keeps it simple and clear.

For me I don't think the "community powered linux" tagline needs to be splashed all across a nice image.

The one with the logo alone (no words) in the middle looks as if someone crossed out the picture.
Desktop: Intel i5-4460, 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics
Clevo N130WU-based Ultrabook: Intel i7-8550U (Kaby Lake R), 16GB RAM, Intel integrated graphics (UEFI)
ASUS X42D laptop: AMD Phenom II, 6GB RAM, Mobility Radeon HD 5400

Those are pretty nice. It could be a worthwhile project to create a package of some of the nicer backgrounds from that site, maybe split up into theme packages such as landscapes, nature, people, cityscapes, etc., and add those to the repository. People always appreciate eye-candy!

Thanks for the comments! Especially asqwerth - thanks for your detailed feedback!

Stevo, you got exact the point what I had in mind. I put a bunch of wallpapers together as a first step.
All of them are in HiDPI (3840x2160px) now and both available as PNG and JPG:

Very nice, it would be cool to have a wallpaper-extras package.

There you go: https://c.libreden.net/index.php/s/zuLHojZD6pVWSzo
I named it mx-wallpapers-extra to get it into the naming convention. Hope that's okay.

Yeah, OP left MX shortly after this post and took all his servers offline, including mirrors he had set up for us. I will now close this thread as it serves no further purpose.
