Microsoft’s GitHub acquisition celebrated by the Linux Foundation: https://www.theverge.com/2018/6/8/17441 ... foundation
Link to Linux Foundation's post: https://www.linuxfoundation.org/blog/mi ... -reaction/

There's also this "GitHub needed a buyer, and there aren't too many options."

Agree with Adrian. It is too early to judge Microsoft for the purchase of GitHub. Although Microsoft is a company and has to make money, they also contribute to the Open Source world. In addition, there are other times now where software collaboration is important for companies as well. As long as the Open Source World is benefiting from collaborations with the corporate world, I have no problem with this. Not only idealistic but also practical views should be taken into considerations.

Who cares about what that "Linux Foundation" is saying anyway ?

First article says :
"Microsoft joined the Linux Foundation nearly two years ago"

Not the most objective source you could find eh ?
That just looks like some kind of economic interest group.

And then for the second link, their "official reaction".

Counting the number of occurences of some words in that text :

* "open source" appears 21 times.
* the word "free" : 0

They don't seem very aware of what GNU/Linux is all about ...

Instead we should care about what eltuno is saying? Have you even used github?

i admit that i care more about what eltuno is saying about the issue than what linux foundation is saying since linux foundation is founded from microsoft among others. if he is using github or not is not so important since this issue is more about finance and management than technicality. and by the way even bfrost seems much more convincing than linux foundation.
