I don't think there's anything bad about it. I have no worries about our repos on Github and if people don't like what Microsoft is doing or their policies there's always Gitlab.

MS is still suing companies for using Linux :(

I'll never trust them based upon their past behavior regarding Linux and open source. I hope Gitlab gets its act together as a viable alternative.

It has to be like Christmas for the folks at gitlab. This may be the best thing that ever happened for them.
And love that knife in the ribs at the end:
Second, it’s important to us that the core of our product always remain open source itself as well. Being “open core” means everyone can build the tools together. Having it all in a single application means everyone can use the same tool to collaborate together. We see the next evolution of software development as a world where everyone can contribute.
In other words--we are open source and they ain't, so choose us.

Again, I have no problem with Github, MX app repos that I maintain will remain on Github unless Microsoft changes something on Github policies or technology that would affect our use cases.

I would never understand this kind of visceral reaction to simple business news...

This article lists why so many people do not trust MS to control Github:

"Don't trust" is irrelevant, what's relevant is policy change and technology change, I won't change anything because of FUD, if the policy or technology changes then it's super easy to move to other similar services, till then it's a non-issue for me.
