hello all

#1 Post by rikhard.fsoss » Sun Dec 17, 2017 4:15 pm

hi, i've just joined the forum.

i've once used mepis coming from the ancient mandrake :D now i believe it's called mandriva.

since that time i always used debian or debian based distros, such as kubuntu, mint debian edition and solydxk (both).

right now i am using the last version of solydk but i really don't need the power of kde plasma, so i was in search for a lighter distro and i found mx, i tried it and it really is a joy to use especially with it's great antix/mx tools.

i will be replacing my solydk with mx 17 in these last days of 2017 to start a fresh and new 2018.

thank you all for the great work.

Welcome!

You can also install and run KDE applications in our XFCE desktop without any difficulty, as some of those are "best of class".

Hi Stevo,

I just installed MX-17 386. I am unable to install KDE standard or full on it. I have been able to install okular, dolphin and kwrite on it. However, I do want to be able to install KDE on the system, as I have tended to use that as my base environment for many years.

Please make sure you understand that MX-17 does not have an official KDE version.

It was not an official version. It was a respin by a community member and not officially supported. It is likely at some point that member will do one for MX 17 with the same restrictions.

We have KDE standard in the MX 17 package-installer...that works in our testing. Have you tried that? We'd also like to troubleshoot what's going wrong with standard and full on the command line, too--they should be installable.
