About once a month somebody asks this, and the answer never changes: we don't know exactly but everything Warren and said and not done indicates that Mepis 12 will not be touched again.

This answer should be in a short FAQ on top of the MEPIS 12 thread or forum...

forget MEPIS - MX is too good

#9 Post by lonesomepoint » Sat Jan 31, 2015 9:22 pm

I don't know any more than anyone else, but I can tell you this: after four years (the last release was early 2011, wasn't it?), I've moved on. If a MEPIS 12 is released, I'm not interested.

When MEPIS upgraded from 11 to 12, I immediately abandoned MEPIS because I hated KDE 4, and switched to antiX. antiX contained a large amount of software I didn't want, but it did work, so I kept it for nearly four years. I was satisfied if not happy.

Three or four weeks ago, I decided to try MX. I quickly realized it includes all the strengths of antiX but eschews almost all the antiX software I didn't want, so I like it even better than antiX. It fulfills the designers' stated vision of a hybrid of antiX and MEPIS, and I'm happy with it.

So, between antiX and MX...we don't need MEPIS.
