[SOLVED] Audacity (Cannot update from the MX Test Repo)

Hello!

I have hit a bit of a roadblock getting Audacity from the MX Test Repo using the MX Package Installer on my 32-Bit install. I am curious if this is due to using the 32-Bit version. I was able to install on my 64-Bit system without problem.

It isn't mission critical or anything, I would just like to use the current Audacity if possible on this installation. Any help or FAQ's regarding this matter is greatly appreciated.

Code: Select all

Depends: libavcodec57 >= 7:3.4.2 but 7:3.3.4-1mx17+1 is to be installed
               libavcodec-extra57 >= 7:3.4.2 but 7:3.3.4-1mx17+1 is to be installed
               libavformat57 >= 7:3.4.2 but 7:3.3.4-1mx17+1 is to be installed
               libavutil55 >= 7:3.4.2 but 7:3.3.4-1mx17+1 is to be installed

If this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize. New to the forum.

It looks like ffmpeg was upgraded in the Test repo, but Audacity was not rebuilt with the new version.
Let me see if I can get those bits back in the Test repo without messing up the new version...

OK, the necessary files are back in the Test repo and Audacity is now installable from the Package Installer.

Let us know how it's working for you.

Ah Ha!

That did the trick. Upgraded without issue. Audacity starts up and all appears to be functioning properly.

Thank you very much!

timkb4cq, I just did an update of my audacity, from the regular repos's 2.1.2 to the test repo's 2.2.2. I used the MX package installer, and it seems to have worked, I opened audacity, it is indeed 2.2.2, so I did a quick test drive... imported a 470MB wave file, ran a eq filter, did a normalization and mp3 (insane setting !) export.

All seems to work normally, listening to the mp3 now.
