SwampRabbit wrote: Sat Sep 07, 2019 9:45 am Jerry, I don’t think it has to be geeky, simple and clear work really well as a default imo.

Ones like:
MX-Semplice
MX-Gotham 17
MX-Flair
MX-Elementary

Sure people can change it, but the default should just work to the point that most people don’t feel they have to.
Gotham 17 and Elementary are out b/c we used them already. I looked at Semplice in other languages, and it was all screwed up b/c of the font being used. I like Flair, but never ran it through other languages--and changing color doesn't work very well at all, I tried (created color lines inside the folder).

On flair: the selection of color1 (dark green) looks good, but I can't get the "greenline" in the images folder to come up with anything except lime. If anyone can do that so it shows in the conky with the same color as color1 I would be grateful

Just found that in Beat 2 conkyrc2core works again, i.e. hands and lua rings are back again.

That looks so nice from now. Both in general looking and font types. Congratulations..

The present default conky is not very nice to look at, I find, so I turn off conky altogether on my installations.

(I don't need it on screen anyway.) :p

Many like it a matter of taste. The point is you have options as you both took advantage of.

Meanwhile, not to be misunderstood, saying "I always change", I just mean the last two point releases.. conkies of MX 16 and 17 were nice to me :)

And this candidate could be still nice even without the symbols (imho.. would look clearer..) .. Just as an alternative..

I've become quite a fan of simplice after making a few changes:

--dropped the font for the elements around the clock itself, making it easier to read at a glance
--increased the font of the system info at the bottom
--used MX Conky to adjust the colors to the default wallpaper

Don't believe the font would translate well into other languages, though.
