Screen Saver or Power Manager

#1 Post by zyngalu »

Hi

I just installed mxlinux (wow..very happy) The screen would go blank only after 5 minutes so I went to power management and selected a longer value. That's OK. But I was hoping to find a screen saver. I can't seem to find a screen saver. Is editing the Power manager the accepted way to turn screens of nowadays with LCD's everywhere.

Also Whats is the difference between Sleep and Hibernate. Why would I pic one over the other.

thank you...

Sleep (suspend) puts the state of the system into RAM, hibernate save the state to the HDD or SSD. Suspend is faster to initiate and return than Hibernate but uses more power to keep RAM usable.
Screensaver was removed from MX as it was causing issues. The alternate is to let the screen blank after a timeout period.

I installed screensaver from the mxpi, called xscreensaver. I like the Galaxy screensaver too much to part with it. 😉
