No Grub after install and uninstall other system. (solved)

#1 Post by keos »

Hi,

At this moment i have no grub at all, i am using a live usb in order to come here at this forum for help.
I tried many options, Partedmagic (grub-doctor), Supergrub2, Rescaut grub, and it looks like they can not detect or read anything. i tried too some commands by the terminal and follow some tutors, but nothing work.

I checked with Gparted and the partitions with the systems are still there, and ...

Code: Select all

# LANG=C fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 640.1 GB, 640135028736 bytes, 1250263728 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk label type: dos
Identificador del disco: 0x000f1103

Disposit. Inicio Comienzo Fin Bloques Id Sistema
/dev/sda1 2048 202545016 101271484+ 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 202545152 204695551 1075200 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 204695552 407535615 101420032 83 Linux
/dev/sda4 407537662 1250263039 421362689 5 Extended
/dev/sda5 * 407537664 604735487 98598912 83 Linux
/dev/sda6 604737536 1250263039 322762752 83 Linux
root@partedmagic:~#
This rare thing never happen to me before, and i have been installing and removing systems for years, i don't know what to do, please tell me what kind of information you are going to need. Manjaro is at partition 3 and MXlinux at 5.

Thanks for any advice.

What did you uninstall?

I had a similar problem and installed just another Linux. Is your /dev/sda1 a free partition?
Machine: Acer Aspire S5-371
CPU: Intel Core i3-7100U with 8GB RAM
MX-19 Beta-2 with Kernel 4.19.0-6

Try MX Boot Repair from the MX Live Session. Make sure you're going to install GRUB where MX had it before.
