is hibernating in MX still unavailable? [solved]
Last time I checked to see whether MX could hibernate, quite a long time ago, the answer was no. It didn't work. Just checking to see if that has been improved on. I'm still using MX 16.

we incorporated a hibernate function that is disabled by default in MX17. While it seems better, we can't guarantee it works on any machine.lonesomepoint wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 1:13 pm Last time I checked to see whether MX could hibernate, quite a long time ago, the answer was no. Re: is hibernating in MX still unavailable?
Before I go installing MX-17, I should make sure: I can't get this hibernation functionality in MX-16 by merely installing or upgrading certain software? I have been burning MX-17 to a DVD; then I wondered whether that was actually necessary. It wouldn't hurt to upgrade to 17, but...except for hibernation not functioning, 16 works for me.dolphin_oracle wrote: ↑Tue Jan 01, 2019 1:32 pmwe incorporated a hibernate function that is disabled by default in MX17. I remember having it work in MX 16, but it involved manually editing a XFCE setting file, plus maybe setting a resume partition and possibly "sudo dpkg-reconfigure uswswap". Now MX Tweak changes that XFCE setting.

Re: is hibernating in MX still unavailable? [solved]
I think I may need to do that whether in MX-16 or 17, because I am getting the same error message in both--
Code: Select all
Warning: Tuxonice binary signature file not found
There is only a slight difference in result. So I enter
Code: Select all
sudo hibernate

Trying doing a web search on the error message ("Warning: Tuxonice binary signature file not found") for which I see many hits, some marked solved.I don't understand what that means except that a file is missing
