Continues to impress

#1 Post by Krissharm »

Some of you may have read my posts about a hot laptop.
I decided to bite the bullet and buy my first new laptop.
I have only ever bought second hand. And I've never had a new one.
I went all out and bought a gaming laptop. A Hp omen. I really wanted a thinkpad. But sadly the budget simply wouldn't allow for that.
The point of this ramble is to say that I obviously had a new laptop with of course windows 10 installed. I of course went to look at installing linux. I'm still not an expert by any means but mx installed along side and now I have duel boot. Hopefully I'll be mostly looking at mx.
But I expected the installation to hard but everything just works... The keyboard lights up as it should. All the function keys for volume, screen brightness work. Mx detected the Intel graphics card and thr nvidia one.

The team are great and I am.always grateful of their efforts.
Primary HP Omen 15-ax009na, i5-6300HQ+NVIDIA GTX 950 Running MX17 64 bit.
Secondary Thinkpad x220 12GB ssd msata & ssd sata drive MX17 64 bit
Light child duties Thinkpad R51 MX17/Windows XP 32bit with forcepae and IDE to SATA + Kingston SSD.

Linux has come along nicely, nowadays the kernel has most of the drivers (I don't want to subtract from the efforts of our team, but many things were improved upstream by the kernel developers).
