Amule

#1 Post by arangoiti »

Hello, I am a happy user of MX-16 and I am very happy with this Linux distribution. My question is, I've seen that Amule is not found in repositories, is there any way to install it on MX-16?

thank you very much.

Welcome. It's not in Debian Stable, upon which MX-16 is based, but it is in Stretch (testing). You can make a package request for our Community Packagers to look at backporting it.

BTW: it looks to me like you might try to first install amule-common from Stretch (it has no dependency problems) then amule itself.

1) https://packages.debian.org/stretch/amule-common
2) https://packages.debian.org/stretch/amule

You probably know the setup procedure, but there is a guide in the Debian Wiki
Production: 5.10, MX-23 Xfce, AMD FX-4130 Quad-Core, GeForce GT 630/PCIe/SSE2, 16 GB, SSD 120 GB, Data 1TB
Personal: Lenovo X1 Carbon with MX-23 Fluxbox and Windows 10
Other: Raspberry Pi 5 with MX-23 Xfce Raspberry Pi Respin

That goes, thanks but continues asking for dependencies and does not let install it

OK, then ask the Community Packagers about backporting it.

Yeah, the Stretch version was built against and requires a newer set of Boost libraries--it should be compatible if built against our Jessie versions, though. It seems to be a simple backport, though--let me look at it.
