MX Artistic

#1 Post by Stevo »

Along with MX Scientific, we should think about a digital art creation/modification respin--or breakout the digital image (photography) stuff into a separate one.

Apps that I can think of for the creative version:

Krita
Inkscape
GIMP and all the plugins we can add for it.

Hmmm..not that much. Any others?

Photographic:

Digikam (KDE, but it's best of class)
The GIMP as above
Darktable
RawTherapee
Lightzone

As with any such group, I think it would be a worthwhile exercise to describe/define the target before shooting the arrow. We have already a significant collection of music/audio apps, are those artists to be perhaps a central group?

Along with Jerry's idea, will the artistic umbrella cover tools for writers? I'm thinking of focuswriter, plume creator and the like.

Are we getting to a point where MX could be a fairly bare bones package with groups of add-ons defined by topic?

"Artistic" is too broad, I was thinking of digital images.

I'd be in for a Hillbilly White Trash metapackage. Poker, NASCAR, pr0n. That should cover it.
