Understood, I was just trying to say that doing this with the MX Package Manager is similar to how the Funtoo flavors and mix-ins work. Maybe just to help with concepts and ideas.

You select them during the install and it automatically includes things for example 'audio creation' vs 'audio listening'. One contains JACK and the other wouldn't. One would contain say Kdenlive and VLC but another would contain just VLC.

Last I knew there were mix-ins for everything from audio, video, graphics.

Honestly I can't remember how many mix-ins used to exist, or exist now because I tend not to try and reinstall on source based distros because of the amount of work needed. Hence part of the reason why I'm here. ;)

It's an excellent idea. Implementation might be difficult unless someone was intimately familiar with the subject.
I tend to like debian-based distros for similar reasons.
