"Our current development focuses on the exciting MX Linux,... Development of MEPIS itself is on indefinite hold, ..." http://www.mepiscommunity.org/node/50
Can anyone elaborate on this?
I am interested in this because if my current distro is ever discontinued, I plan to go back to MEPIS either MX or another MEPIS with Xfce due to Debian base and automatic partitioning installer.. Also my first experience with Linux was with Point and Click Linux (SimplyMEPIS) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_%26_Click_Linux! in the dark ages.

Pretty simple, really:
1) Warren has not touched the MEPIS 12 beta 2 in a year and a half, and has said he has no specific plans to do so.
2) MX Linux, the collaborative product of the MEPIS and antiX Communities whose current version is MX-14.2, is under active development and will be around for a long time.

Re: Current development MX Linux - MEPIS on hold?
Would be nice of Warren would do a beta 3 regardless of what he has indicated in the past, if only to eliminate the vast number of updates required when a users install, especially with slow or metered internet connections.Jerry3904 wrote:Pretty simple, really:

I was amazed at the updates required for MX-14.2 install yesterday...

I don't think he ever did an updated .iso just to save bandwidth.
My MX14.x with KDE Standard Plus took about 100 MB this morning. That's without debian-wheezy-backports enabled. I'm pretty sure it would have been close to (or over) 200 MB with it.

Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.
