New Mirror in Mainland China!

#1 Post by aledie » Fri Nov 09, 2018 12:12 am

Hi, I contacted few popular free mirrors at Chinese universities (Shanghai and Beijing), but was advised that their selection process runs via submission of new mirror request issues + voting at github. If you also believe (I sure do being based in China) it would be of benefit to us to extend mirror accessibility in Asia, please vote!

You will find 3 mirror request issues I submitted to SJTUG, USTCLUG, TUNA at my github: https://github.com/aledie
MX-17.1 (x64): HP 8460p, i5-2540M, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, HD3000

New mirror in China at Shanghai Jiao Tong University *nix User Group (SJTUG):

https://mirrors.sjtug.sjtu.edu.cn

P.S. 2 pending potential mirrors, if there is any interest please vote at their GitHub mirror request pages:
https://github.com/ustclug/mirrorrequest/issues/208
https://github.com/tuna/issues/issues/476

Excellent! Many thanks.

How do you vote at the GitHub mirror request page?

I place the following comment on all three requests and added my thumbs up...

"Great idea... MXLinux needs to be more readily accessible within the PRC."

Once you get there with your GitHub login, just click like under my request, or write a comment that you would wish this mirror to be made. These 2 mirrors are pretty popular (Tuna in Beijing, USTC in Shanghai) with as it seems every major distro mirrored except ours.

@Jerry3904:

-I'd suggest if you do only the first one above SJTUG where rsync seems being completed today
(as the other 2 are subject to them considering our votes to be sufficient for allocating the disk space).
-also in your list I suggest listing the Koddos mirror currently listed as PRC rather just as "Hong Kong" or at least "Hong Kong/ PRC" due to the special status of the region

OK, will do just the first.

Will make the change you suggest--I wasn't actually sure how to list that.

Thanks!
