I'm planning on upgrading the RAM to 1GB (despite the note in the Acer Service Guide)
Code: Select all
System Memory NOTE: It is not possible for end users to upgrade the Aspire one memory. • One DDRII SO-DIMM slots support 512MB to 1024MB system memory
On this model, the upgrade will mean complete disassembly - removal of keyboard and motherboard from the front. So my question - while I'm stripped down that far, would there be any advantage in replacing the HDD with a 128GB SSD? How much of the slowness in loading applications and large files is down to the processor (running at 90-100%) and how much to the speed of the HDD (WD1200BEVS) which has the slowest I/O of the options used at 150 Mbits/s maximum.
