Installed kde-servicemenu-rootaction as a test, version 2.6.99-1mcr110+1 (mepis). No problems at all.
Did you enable http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/ and the http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/testrepo/ before upgrading?
Don't know which one it's in.

One more thing, did you update after changing the sources.list?

The only firefox-esr we have for MEPIS 11 is 45.1.1 and it's in main

Code: Select all

http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/
I could probably resurrect a 38.8...

What arch is your MEPIS 11 system, 32 or 64 bit?

No need for a 38.8.0 Thanks to guiguys post, I checked and was able to install and run firefox-esr-45.1.1 on my M11 64 bit VM. If you're having trouble, do like Henry said and make sure your synaptic sources/repositories look like this:
# See sources.list(5) for more information
# This file should be edited through synaptic

# MEPIS improvements, overrides and updates--the MEPIS magic -
#
# Mirror of Warren's MEPIS 11 master repo that Tim "slurped"
deb http://nl.mxrepo.com/mepis mepis-11.0 main

# archived Debian Squeeze Repos
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free

# archived Debian Squeeze LTS repos
deb http://archive.debian.org/debian/ squeeze-lts main contrib non-free

# MEPIS Community Main and Test
deb http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/repo/ mepis11cr main non-free
# deb http://main.mepis-deb.org/mepiscr/testrepo/ mepis11cr test

Then do a reload and install the latest firefox-esr.

We may need to halt sending anything newer up to the repo.

Well thank you very much guys. I am now running on Firefox-esr 45.1.1

I uninstalled 46 and installed Firefox-esr and initially ended up with Firefox 9.0.1-1 which played up something terrible with Facebook and no sign of esr. So I uninstalled 9.01 and lo an behold esr appeared on my menu... and worked properly ;-) A bit of conflict there somehow methinks and dont know how it happenned..

Its back to normal browsing now but its been a useful day. What I have been feeling for some months now is that I was heading out on a limb on Mepis 11, a lovely OS I think, and dont want to loose it, but I have to move on. Other situations such as this will most surely occur. So Ive download MX15 64bit and have had a tinker at it, but hit problems in loading the live disk. May be my own doing ;-) And most importantly Ive done a massive backup on a separate hard drive of several hundred thousand files (mostly images)

So problem resolved meantime

Regards
Peter
