Hi .. kmathern

I'm happy my apt-get / spm isn't broke. The ppa thing had me wondering.
I've got to bone up on keyring security and all that. Not to mention .. the odd wiki,
the mx manual and etc. All that will keep me pretty busy.

sudo apt-get update .. No errors.

sudo checkaptgpg

Is that for a weather indicator on the xfce4 panel? It looks like we don't have an indicator panel plugin for the panel for it to live in, at least in Debian, so maybe it's an Ubuntu thang and I can port it over.

I think the o.p. (KernSpy) wants to use the my-weather-indicator package from: https://launchpad.net/~atareao/+archive/ubuntu/atareao/+packages

It doesn't work for me.

Looking at the .desktop file (/usr/share/applications/extras-my-weather-indicator.desktop), you start it with the command "/opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicator"

Code: Select all

$ grep Exec /usr/share/applications/extras-my-weather-indicator.desktop
Exec = /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicator

But that errors out with:

Code: Select all

$ /opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicator
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/opt/extras.ubuntu.com/my-weather-indicator/bin/my-weather-indicator", line 26, in <module>
    import gi
ImportError: No module named gi

Yes, I think I first seen it on youtube. Looking for the link.
Pretty sure this is it .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrnDwLgw5oc
Yes, he said it is for Ubuntu / Mint.

For a weather site, I like http://www.intellicast.com/
To bad the screenlets applet couldn't be fixed and linked
to this site instead of .. weather.com. I find Intellicast
weather reports to be very accurate. Well, for my
area anyway.

I'll find something that works eventually. :)
