Solved?

Ghostscript also works, and seems faster. The output fonts are a bit grainy. You can use the psmono device for BW output, psgray for grayscale, pswrite for full color, and you can compress the big output files with to make them smaller:

Mono output:

Code: Select all

gs -sDEVICE=psmono -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sOutputFile=output.pdf input.pdf

Given that convert works well for you, if you make a step by step example of how/ what you want to do it should be easy enough to make a little program for you that uses convert for the backend

Thanks, but that won't be necessary. I could write a shell script to do it, but doing it via a terminal works for me.
MX-14; 3.12-0.bpo.1-686-pae kernel using 4GB RAM
2.4GHz AMD Athlon 4600+
NVidia GeForce 6150 LE; 304.121 Display Driver
You didn't slow down because you're old; you're old because you slowed down.
