MX 17.1 : what can be called "success"
Re: MX 17.1 : what can be called "success"
Also recently found MX Linux. Been using Linux since 1998 (first distro was SUSE Linux Professional) and *BSD. Tried many distributions since then, both professionally and private, but totally missed Mepis and antiX. So impressed with MX Linux, especially version 17.1. It's fast-responsive-efficient, stable, useroriented with great UI and fantastic MX tools. Kudos. respect MX Linux "team"!

Hi anticapitalista,anticapitalista wrote:In order to answer that, you need to spell out what 'Mepis/antiX/MX concepts' you mean.k_sz wrote: Still : why haven't Mepis/antiX/MX concepts been more distributed ?
from what i understand :
- close to autonomous (the less relations as possible with monopolies/business companies) ;
- shareable ;
- tested (aka "close to 'safe'") ;
- collaborative ;
- (easily) learnable/shareable if one puts an effort on learning (implying a quest of autonomy) ;
- esthetically enjoyable.

Re: MX 17.1 : what can be called "success"
That list is valid for most of the linux distributions
Re: MX 17.1 : what can be called "success"
Sorry, correct name is GNU/Linux
Re: MX 17.1 : what can be called "success"
Probably for most of the Linux distros that aren't on the top list : the first argument is a trap.

Have a look at this very (interesting and quite revealing IMO) recent video about MEPIS 2003.

What would be your MX definition ? What makes it exceptional ?anticapitalista wrote:Agreed.Adrian wrote:That list is valid for most of the linux distributions

I'm still looking for an answer about "what can be called 'success'" concerning MX.
(currently watching eznix's YTvid)
