I'm in the process of playing around with my first Raspberry Pi. :) I'm in the process of putting OwnCloud on it, though I'll likely end up not using OwnCloud, as it really gives me much more than I need (or want for that matter).
Something that I DO want, is what Xmarks used to do for us, except on my own server. Not Dropbox or anyone else's server, mine, all mine...
Anyway, I did a bit of a search to see if anything has come up that will allow me to do what I want, & it looks like, not really. Some things get kind or close, but no, they don't do it.
So I did a search & managed to find this old cnet page:
https://download.cnet.com/Xmarks-for-Fi ... 25455.html
that is actually still delivering Xmarks 4.2.2! So I downloaded it & guess what? It installed with no problems on to Waterfox. :D
I'm VERY happy about this. It means that with very little work, I'll be able to use Xmarks (only on Firefox based browsers now though :( ) on my own server to sync my bookmarks.
This is awesome, as I have over a thousand of the damn things, & I do let them get a bit messy sometimes & have to spend too much time organising them (across multiple computers - those who have done it, will know what I mean), & it is a total pain in the RRR's to do the job.
Anyway, in the hopefully not too distant future I'll have some more to say about this great news.
Any of you guys remember Xmarks?

Wow! Yeah, I miss Xmarks; it was a nice add-on to have, and like you I haven't found anything else like it.

firefox sync is more reliable

Firefox sync is OK if you don't mind other's having your stuff. Beyond that, it would be no good to me as it bogs down badly when you have lots of bookmarks.

Re: Any of you guys remember Xmarks?
I made an .xpi of the installed add-on, then uninstalled Xmarks (I checked that it was actually deleted from the ~/.mozilla folder) & then reinstalled it from my foXmarks.xpi file, & it installed properly without problem.
Anyway, I feel happy that I've got a copy of the Xmarks installation file in my archives, as I don't expect it to last over at the CNET site forever.
