duo core is alive!

#1 Post by mmikeinsantarosa »

Maybe a year ago, my little duo core laptop began to refuse to connect to my home wifi. At first I thought it was due to a recent upgrade but no. I've had this thing in service since MX14 and upgraded it fresh for every release. I tried older MX-15/16 installs and still a no go. Eventually I put it out in the garage waiting for a trip to an e-Waste site.

Yesterday, I figured I'd drop it off at the dump after work but figured I'd give it one more shot with MX18.2 and wifi worked. It took some serious Jethro Bodine ciphering but it finally dawned on me that between the last time I troubleshot this sucker and now, we'd gotten our AT&T modem/wireless router replaced. It was that old AT&T modem/wifi unit that was the problem!

Just something to think about (which I didn't) when your wifi quits working.

BTW, every other mobile device never had a wifi problem, just this one older dell.

A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange that men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.
