I mean.. for me it has always been ok. I know someone here on the forum uses it, issue was sorted.. hence.. and that I have an nvidia here myself in this system which works like a peach.

Also red on Reddit about it and those who have it love it. On Linux, yes.

Is it supported in linux off the bat?



I just wonder how it is going to fit in the case/motherboard. It is a bit longer than the nvidia at 23cm. Should fit I wager.. its size 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm.
Also need to make sure the PSU has the 8-pins PCI Express power connector (there is a reason why I haven't looked at those yet )

Just put the nvidia in a comparison to the radeon, max freq are a bit lower on the radeon, the max resolution on the nvidia is a lot higher, however the nr of cores are HUGELY higher on the radeon (768 vs 2.304) and that will make a difference -and- it has double the memory buswidth (if that is the correct English word ).

Given that all of my problems in life seem to trace back to my Nvidia card, I was thinking about an RX 580. They seems to have some great price reductions and should have a bit more oomph than a 1050 Ti. A fair bit more power consumed, if that's important.

I will get a PSU to match this puppy, no issues there I am going to do some googling on the card tomorrow.. I hope I will hear something about the thing from the more techie dev folks here too. But specs wise it sure looks interesting.

The current nvidia is doing fine dealing with the resolution of these two monitors (1920x1080), so.. anything matching that resolution would do, larger is overkill really. Not something I have to keep in mind.

Fun part about this RX580 is that it has TWO hdmi ports. I hope that doesn't happen for a while but suppose the p2250 dies a new monitor will have hdmi and I can just plug it in and that's that. No need to fuss.

HDMI is great, I took a long time before trying it, (it was actually when I bought a Raspberry Pi3B), playing through built in speakers over the same cable as the video, keeps the cable mess down. Most TVs have an HDMI input these days too, so you have that option too. I also have a '3 to 1' HDMI cable, so only need one HDMI socket on the TV.
But I normally use a small, (as in 12"), HDMI monitor.
