Yeah.. and the only way to do that is an airco, and those things cost a fortune. Heck.. getting my cat operated on was cheaper! ;)

Obviously my previous system wasn't as demanding to run, but yeah.. different chip, different stock cooler, different thing altogether.

On the outside.. yeah they're both computers with the same basic components, on the inside however it's like a Trabant vs a Porsche right now.. the Porsche being a bit more finicky ;)

Oh.. hahahah this is funny.. complete side thing not related, but I just looked up the logo of the Trabant:

And it looked familiar...

Quickly looked up the logo that is on my new Sterling mobility scooter:

HRMMMMMMM

From "the other thread"
srq2625 wrote: Wed Jun 26, 2019 5:26 pm Actual measurements:
As I have it installed, the height above the MBO: Cooler - 162mm, the fan is another 13mm == 175mm

But, the fan can be remounted a little lower on the radiator, bringing it back in line at 162mm.
That is total height from the surface of the MBO to the top of the radiator (or fan, as the case may be). That includes the height of the CPU, the CPU socket, etc.

I would post a pic, but I haven't set up a hosting site. That's something I will be doing soon (as I dig out my cameras and get back into my photography), but not this week.

Thanks! :)

You know.. my mate's computer is going to the shop soon to get cleaned. They had a free clean voucher (all heat related, of course, nice advertisement to get people in the shop), and considering I have done everything I can to get it cleaner and the radiator bit is STILL looking like I just dug it up on the beach or something (he smoked, that sh*t sticks) I told his GF to make use of this voucher offer. Those folks have better equipment for this than I do. She said the mobo is getting hot too. I told her of course, the CPU has to get rid of its heat somewhere.. if it can't go up it must go down and all that. Let's fix that CPU overheating first and THEN see where we're at with the other parts.

The guys in the shop, they're cool dudes, the real old school kind of nerds, if you know what I mean. My mate and I loved going there, a lot of the parts in that computer actually came from that shop.

Anyway.. since I am going there anyway I am going to ask them about this dealie I have going on here, and then I will likely bring my system in sometime to get it looked at and they can build the new cooler on it. I know I can do it, yes, but this way they can take an actual hands-on looksee to see what is the best solution that fits.

Just got the pay out of my holiday hours that I had saved up from work still from two years ago (I am on disability benefits now, those two years were the waiting period where they have to try all sorts of things to get me back to work somehow) and that pay out turned out to be a bit more than I expected, so... I can make it easier on myself and do it this way ;)

Nothing set in stone yet, just an as-info that that might be the way I am going with this.

Sure - if it reduced wear-n-tear and stress and strain, why not let someone else do it. Completely agree!

Getting accumulated cigarette smoke crud off of the motherboard and components probably requires a professional solution anyway.

Just looked at what the store has to offer, brand wise, compatible with the AM4.

They have all the Noctua's that were mentioned in this thread, including that U14S, and a bunch of other ones.

They also have a nice selection of Cooler Masters and Be Quiets, good.

The other brands they only have one or two models of and I haven't really heard much of those, so, I'll be going for one of the three mentioned brands.
They also have a selection of Water coolers, so.. throwing that up as a possibility as well.

It's gonna be fun talking geekspeak with those guys, back when we were buying parts for my mate's system (the nicotine infested one) I was standing there nodding stupid. NOT anymore! ;)

Heh.. come to think of it.. this time I am going to be in my mate's shoes, and his girlfriend is going to be in mine. *giggle*

Something did slip through while I was building the system.

I just now discovered it

Forgetting the wifi dongle I can understand if you're normally using Ethernet but how could you forget your cordless mouse dongle? Didn't the fact that your mouse didn't work suggest that something was amiss?
