Who's gotten their taxes done already??

#1 Post by Eadwine Rose »

Mine was done yesterday. Getting a huge return too, but then again to illustrate I drove 2000km to medical things out of the 7000 or so total. That and all the things insurance does't cover. Thank goodness it covers most or I would have been bankrupt by now!

Do you have the same tax system in Netherlands? I mean do you have to file a tax return by sometime in April?

There is no HAVE to. If you don't want to that is fine. If you have to pay up they will find you anyway. As of March 1st you can file for the return by providing the overview of all the expenses that are deductible and entering things into the system.

I believe you have till June, I never waited for longer than a week or two to file things.

Glad you getting a huge return. Mine taxes have been done and I already have my little refund. I was worried about having to pay so even a very small refund is better than opposite.

Yeah I hear ya. Last year I actually had to pay as well, just because it was under x amount (40 I believe?) it was not needed TO actually pay it.

Heh.. this is the first year of a lifelong line of returns. Chronically ill does that for ya.

Next year's taxes are going to be even MORE interesting.. I am getting checks from various sources this year, partial employer, partial government, partial disability.. GAH!! Having to gather all of that.. this year was just a trial run I think

Got mine done a month ago.
Here in the States taxes are due April 15 (or the first business day thereafter if that falls on a weekend). They generally don't process returns before February. People who are getting money back tend to file early, those having to pay at the deadline.

I won't have to pay until either my countries currency (economy) sinks more against the US dollar. Or, the US dollar gets weak (it seems to be the cleanest dirty shirt at the moment). Or a financial crisis of some other kind hits.

Any of those (& more) will cause the price of gold/silver to rise (obviously I'm all in), therefore I will have to pay taxes on any financial year profit (in Oz - 30th June -> 30th June), that are over 16K.
