First time poster

#1 Post by philotux »

Hello everyone,

This would be my first post on MX Linux Forum. I wanted to just express my gratitude towards the dev. team and evryone involved in creating and developing such a great operative system.

Having some experience of Linux based OS:es, mostly from Ubuntu/Mint, I am still much of a novice in the Linux world. Now that I have started using MX as my daily drive for some time, I look forward to visiting the forum more often in order to watch you in action and learn from your experience. I may be posting some very basic questions about the issues I will run to, so please bear with me if you find them being of a very newbie character.

Greetings

philotux

Greetings philotux!

Don't forget to check out the excellent MX manual (Alt-F1 to open it, Ctrl-F to search it), the Wiki, and the very helpful videos provided by Dolphin Oracle:

Thank you all!
And thank you chrispop99 for the tips on the manual and for the link. I will try getting my self into a good MX-shape to have a run with the Dolphin.

Cheers

MX is pretty similar to Mint, as a long time Minty myself, I have taken to MX very easily. Slight differences but not too much.

Welcome and enjoy.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

Welcome!

Lots of good folks are joining us from the ranks of Ubu, Mint, and Linux Lite and etc. All good in their own ways, but sometimes trying to be a "one-size-fits-all" distro doesn't work out so well. And the Ubuntu base, with all the big changes and the inclusion of beta software in updates (unforgivable in a distro aimed at newbies), has become increasingly off-putting. At least Mint makes it safer with it's Updater.

My favorite things about MX are:

It's based on Debian Stable, and it just doesn't get any more stable than that! Updates rarely ever break stuff.

It's up-to-date despite being based on Debian Stable.

The tools are awesome and simple.

This community is great!

Thank you all once again for the welcoming words and for sharing your thoughts.
I am beginning to feel more at home in MX for each passing day and I truly like it.
