The Problem with thinner and lighter Laptops
Re: The Problem with thinner and lighter Laptops
I like to sit back in my recliner to use my laptop, so 11"-12" is about perfect for me, though I sometimes use a 14" laptop like that. Occasionally I like to work on images or deal with lots of files. In those cases I like a desktop or larger laptop at my desk. I don't do a lot of cpu intensive tasks. Laptops are not comfortable when they get really hot.
Re: The Problem with thinner and lighter Laptops
as Asqwerth mentioned, it is relative to usage.
My refurbished T430 laptop is an order of magnitude faster than my old desktop
and the battery provides a built-in UPS for the several daily brown-outs here, lately.

Re: The Problem with thinner and lighter Laptops
good point about the "built in UPS"
I spend little time at my desk, but need to communicate... cellphone does not cut it, laptop (small, light, thin) fits the bill perfectly.
It is great that we all can choose what fits best for us in Hardware as well as Software.
