Do these "scooters" still use lead-acid batteries?
The electric cars now being touted all seem to be using lithium instead, so I wonder if this technology is trickling down to scooters.

I actually have NO idea what battery is in there.. *shrug*

The manual speaks of two types, I wager one of these is in there: AGM batteries or Gel-Cell batteries. Not a clue what they are *shrug*

Thanks for that story! Exercise is something that has to be done with very good supervision. Plain jane exercise is extremely bad for those with EDS, because the muscles are already overworked from keeping everything together. Training them hard will overload them even more. I am glad to see she has found a way to make it work. :)

I am still confronted with the overload barrier that I preferably not cross but still cross every.. oh.. 4 days or so. I don't have to do hikes, instant overload there. I have a mower that I need to assemble still, it'll have to wait a few days still or it's going to be too much. And nope, no one around to help me out with that. Mom passed well over 20 years ago, and dad.. let's not go there, basically he's like: here's some help *slides flyers across the table*.

Yeah.

But I am not giving up or anything, strong person here ;) If need be I can do everything myself. Just don't ask how long I need to get back to the no overload status, but dangit, if stuff needs doing it needs doing.

Thanks for the battery info. I have a charger that came with the scooter, so I can HOPEFULLY haha trust they gave me the right one for what is in the scooter.

It was officially baptized today. Therapist came by and we practiced. I can do very tight turns with the thing, full circle almost on the spot, it's crazy!! I also tried the zoof setting at a bicycle path.. that thing is FAST!! A regular two wheel scooter had trouble passing me hehehe (and that was not because my scooter has a big butt!)

Some scooters come with the option of lead-acid or lithium-ion. Powered scooters have been around for much longer than the li batteries so lead was used first. In ER's case it
will be lead either glass mat or gel. Both are sealed, thus getting around the spilled acid danger. Glass mat units can be charged faster than gel and can also provide a greater
output power surge. None of them have the memory problems that plagued the older Ni-Cads and limited their use in scooters.
As yet Li-ion batteries are considerably more expensive than lead.

Well.. took a long trip today, 20kms worth, only 1 indicator light for the power of the batteries briefly went off, then came back on. Once all the lights are off you should really be home and the scooter on the charger hahaha. There are around 10 lights or something like that, so.. I wager my driving style is quite economic.

I have tanned arms now, was out from 11 till 4.

My brain is confused as it is used to pretty much only computer time, and dealing with data input right now is.. eh.. as soon as things become a bit more difficult and out of the standard my brain says TILT - SHUT DOWN. Brain fog is very much an EDS thing.

I went to the airport today (small planes airport)

had lunch there

went back home, on my way there decided to go to a different town to get some supplies. I bought a broom, was wondering how on earth I was going to take that home, even though it was small, then remembered I have crutch holders hahaha.

Practiced various things, learning the feel of the thing, knowing where exactly the little handle actually DOES something (like trying to feel the grip point of the clutch really haha), also learning that when you put the steering wheel at a too sharp angle (it said boonk and that was that haha) the scooter doesn't want to move. I managed to get out of that little conundrum by "rocking the boat", kind of like you do when you can't get out of a dip with your car, forward back forward back, if you do that fast enough you might be able to rock the car out of it. ;)
