Re: SSDs as backup devices

#11 Post by rokytnji.1 »

Just looked at 29 dollar after a promo code for a sata III 120 gig ssd at newegg in my gmail cuz I bought 120 gig micro sd card from newegg for my Samsung S7 phone. My previous Sandisk 64 gig ultra micro sd had just died. On that phone.

I run AntiX on SSD on my Chromebook and on this Dell Laqptop.

Wish i'd saved it, but I saw a decent youtube video on SSD's. The take away for me was don't fill it up, a full SSD has a shorter life because of the way it oranises data. So I wonder if the bloated (Compared to most Linux Distros) windows was the cause for the shorter life? Thus bad review?

Thanks all for the input. Oddly, or perhaps not, I trust this site more than tech mag editors. I went with a WD 4Tb HD. I try to back up weekly but (at least with my previous device) keep it off when not in use.
