Let me speculate, as for the views, you may get even more these days - LM 19.1 was just released and published on DW... will be probably in the same "latest distros" list somewhere next to each other... Face healthy competition for one but synergy for the other - "clickers"/ users of one are usually interested what another is doing (we are friends, right) ;)

I really don't get the intense interest and even pride in the page hit rankings.

I much prefer checking out the reviews/ratings page in MX, to see what users are saying.

User reviews are pretty favorable on Distrowatch. People who are trying it seem to like it, and are surprised by it's ease of use. I read good things about it everywhere. Youtube reviewers seem to like it a lot, too. But what's not to like? As far as I'm concerned MX has everything, including my favorite DE, Xfce. I run it on all my household and family machines save one Win 10 machine my grandson uses for gaming. That's okay because I have a Win machine available in case I ever need one. No one in the family has any trouble at will using MX.

I do have one laptop that runs MX and has a second area partitioned with a / and /home that is usually empty. I use it to play around with various distros from time to time. Nothing that's come along, however, has been able to entice me away from MX. It's just that good.

Just had a look at DW's 7 day ranking. I appreciate this is only an indication of interest in a distro, but it is interesting.

When MX 18 was first released it hit DW's #1, and the new release of Mint wasn't far behind.

A few days after the releases MX and Mint dropped back behind Manjaro.

Mint's slide has continued, but MX has jumped back to the #1 slot.

Not bad for a distro which receives little fanfare from big online publishers

Happy new year!

:number1:

it really needs to be for the 30 day period, in order to mean much:
- but, that 7 day period - is still nice
now, just wait until the end of this month, hey ?.

MX is only a hundred hits per day (3606 vs 3507) behind Manjaro for the 30-day page hit rankings, with it trending down and MX up, so that top spot may be within reach!

Here's the latest troll user rating, though:
Version: 18
Rating: 2

Only another Xfce distro with some extra tools.
There's no need to make such a big excitement. Xfce layout too bad.

Such trolls are a sign of success and a badge of honor. Two years ago we were aspiring to get into the top 20 and people didn't have to bother trolling us. We were a threat to no one.
Will I cry when it's all over?
When I die will I see Heaven?

Reviews can be also useless, like on SourceForge page, we have 4 reviews, one is one star and says this: "Downloaded the i386 image of MX-17.1 and file is named correctly but is the antix file!"
Look: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-linux/reviews
There's no cure for stupidity. I don't know even where to start... so much stupidity condensed in a simple sentence.

I think I've posted before that there will always be outlier reviews, whether deliberate trolling, ignorance or truly a reflection of user's own experience.

But like the way figure skating is scored in the Olympics, if you throw out the highest and lowest scores and average the rest, I think you'd get a pretty fair representation of how MX is assessed by users.

Not that there won't be some manipulative reviews (for and against) but the more reviews there are, the more likely the averaged results reflect actual experiences of MX.
