My last entry is a request involving Ice-SSB developed by the folks at PeppermintOS. When I download the deb file from the Peppermint site and install it on MX Linux 17.1, the installer says it is in the repos (although my search queries do not find it). I'm guessing that the problem involves me; but, neither ice-ssb nor 'site specific browser' seem to unearth the software. Perhaps someone can check into this and see what ought to be done... telling me it's a personal problem is okay. ;)
If "ice" in the repos is the same thing, it's in the repos, but maybe it could stand updating.

Code: Select all

apt show ice

Package: ice
Version: 5.3.4-0mx17
Priority: optional
Section: net
Maintainer: Mark Greaves (PCNeSpec) <mark@pcnetspec.co.uk>
Installed-Size: 167 kB
Depends: python3, python3-gi, python3-requests, python3-bs4
Recommends: chromium-browser
Download-Size: 37.2 kB
APT-Sources: http://iso.mxrepo.com/mx/testrepo stretch/test amd64 Packages
Description: Webapp integration with Peppermint Ice
Front end for building single site browsers using
Chromium, Chrome, Vivaldi, or Firefox as a backend,
 allowing custom menu integration.
Hmmm--we have chromium instead of Ubuntu's chromium-browser, so there's one tweak at least that could be done.

Yup, that's it. I never looked for it as just "ice". My mistake, :(

Looks like Ice 5.3.4 is also the latest in Peppermint's github repo.

I'm doing flatpak-1.0.3 from Sid right now.

Steveo, I'm kind of on the fence with flatpaks... they get to be real space hogs. Nice idea though.

Yes, but we have them as one option in case we can't backport the newer versions of apps.

Makes perfect sense. It is clearly an indicator of where things are headed.

Is it a compiler sort of error?
