Hi all.

I was born, raised and live in Northern Ireland. I'm currently 35, and working as a Shop Supervisor. Ever since my first computer I've always programmed to some extent.

I started with the ZX Spectrum when I was 10. Since then I've owned or used on a regular basic BBC Micro/Master, Atari ST, Acorn Archimedes, PCs (from 80186 onwards), Macs (from SE30 onwards), SparcStation (running Solaris 2/SunOS 5) to my current AMD Phenom II based computer.

I've been programming from the start with BASIC and Assembler moving onto C and then Java. I've touched on plenty of languages or scripting languages over the years with varying degrees of knowledge gained.

I started using Linux on a small scale in about 1997 but Windows was always dominant. Finally in May 2007, I switched permanently to Linux with Mepis 7 and now Mepis 8.

Outside of computers, I watch lots of films - cinema and DVD; I listen to lots of music - CD, radio and iPod; I read as often as I can - Clancy, Child, Cussler, Gaiman etc and the odd reference manual; I follow rugby - Ulster and Ireland; I watch MotoGP and Road-racing (NW200 and IoM TT) whenever possible.

That's all folks,
James

PS. Guinness is my favourite drink.

After reading your MepisLovers.org posts for quite a while now, I'm absolutely certain we all have reason to be very happy that you've joined the Packaging Team.

THANKS, PURPLEANKH !

Hey, Scott, welcome to the team. Don't be afraid to ask questions...there's lots of little tricks and optimizations we can do, and I'm finding new ones every once in a while.

Hi all,

I guess I've joined the Packaging Team. I'll likely stick with M11 for now, but maybe once I get comfortable I'll try 8.5 or 8.0.

Professionally I'm an Oracle DBA consultant, I've been using linux for about 10 years (mostly servers). I migrated from Windows to Desktop Linux about 4 years ago.
