wine-staging-4.3 with the new libvkd3d-dev build-depends added is on it's way up for both jessie & stretch.
Did the configure in the build still complain about a missing libavcodec-dev?
I dumped the message that had your search string & results. Here's my .build file if you care to scan it.
If you're lazy like me, just search the build file for "avcodec"!

I get this still:

Code: Select all

configure: libavcodec 64-bit development files not found (or too old), XAudio2 WMA conversion won't be supported.
and since that's the first line with it to come up, that tells me you haven't added libavcodec-dev to the build-depends to see if that clears that up...

Building gsequencer 1.21.53 from upstream Debian for MX 17 after fixing a problem with the dh_clean override. Now to see if I can fix the build in MX 15.

Edit: 2.1.53 builds hang when doing self tests. I see Deban has since cherry-picked patches from upstream to probably fix that for 2.1.53, but I just packaged 2.1.66 instead to work around the issues.

Gsequencer keeps wanting more and more backports to fix build failures on MX 15...building Ardour 5.12.0 for MX 17/18 instead.

And Audacity 2.3.1, too. I have a theme going today.

The +3 is up with both libvkd3d-dev & libavcodec-dev baked in.
No more config complaints.

What do you want to do when faudio comes out?

It depends on whether wine-staging keeps the patches to disable the need for it. I suspect that they will, since most distros won't have faudio for a while. If it's required, we'll just backport it, too.

Still with the audio program theme, Qtractor 0.9.5 (current release) from upstream Debian for MX 15 thru 18.

Shotwell Photo Manager 0.30.2--needs a newer valac from our test repo to build successfully now. Building it against a newer libraw from Buster to support more RAW formats.

Hmm--Shotwell 0.30.2 throws up va-api errors when run from the terminal when built against Stretch's versions. Gonna rebuild against MX 18's libva and Mesa libraries to see if that helps--maybe it can use va-api to speed up photo processing tasks.

0ad 0.0.23.1 bugfix version from Buster. I have to cross-compile the 32-bit version using sbuild instead of pbuilder, since Debian has it build its own internal Mozilla javascript interpreter, since Debian doesn't have that package, and those always fail to cross-compile in pbuilder.

OK--there are some quirks to using it that we may not have fully documented so far--especially use of the local repo so you can build against previously backported packages. Let us know if any problems pop up.

Once the packages are built, you can use a command (or script) like

Code: Select all

sudo mv /var/cache/pbuilder/debian-stretch-amd64/result/* . && \
sudo mv /var/cache/pbuilder/debian-stretch-i386/result/* . && \
debsign *.changes
To move them to the current folder and sign the i386 packages, since autosign doesn't seem to work for those. Arch-independent packages just get most of the first line, of course.
