Did you remove the packages from the PPA? I can see those causing problems.

Kmymoney update to 4.8.1.1 for MX 15/16 and 17 from upstream Debian. I tried to port over 5.0 from the KDE Neon repo, but it kept failing with some docbook error.

Yes I did. Will go back thru it again. There was a problem installing thru Synaptic, a libarcus3 file I believe, it tried to dot dpkg --configure to it but failed 3 times.

Yes, all removed and repos deactivated.

Tim and I can both get the GUI to come up. If you can't get that to show, I have to think that there are still PPA packages on your system that are interfering.

Built: R-base 3.4.3

Building: VLC 3.0.0, which is out after years of development.

Installed on a laptop, a different computer, and it installs, starts and loads, but when I add the printer it crashes.

Maybe all of my posts in regards to this could be moved to https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=134&t=44009
