I remember we tested it on earlier versions of MX and found it lacking, which is why Adrian developed our own menu editor.
Debian testing also has a newer 2.2.0, which is the current release. I'll give it a try.

Builds and installs easily for MX 17 and even 15! That was a welcome break after some of the problems I had backporting Handbrake and ffmpeg earlier. You can install and test the single deb early:
