Request:XED

#1 Post by manyroads »

I saw mention of xed (mint editor) being available along with other mint apps. I have searched to no avail. Can someone point me to where it might reside? :crossfingers:

G'day @Gordon Cooper here is where I saw the glimmer that xed might be in the repos somewhere. I'll stick with Mousepad if it's not something that folks want in the repos.

Looks like you can download a deb from here:

https://pkgs.org/download/xed

It needs xed-common, which is also listed there.

In general, we are reluctant to put such a signature application from Mint into our repos, though we do have mintstick as an exception.

Didn't remember that at all, but it's in Main for MX-17/18

Code: Select all

$ apt policy xviewer
xviewer:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.2.2-0.1~mx17+1
  Version table:
     1.2.2-0.1~mx17+1 500
        500 http://mirror.utoronto.ca/mxlinux/mx/repo stretch/main amd64 Packages
OK: so we made 2 exceptions.

Looks like it's in quite a few distros, actually. https://repology.org/metapackage/xed/versions

It is, yes... and it is, I think, still in active development
