Streamlink (watch live-streams in VLC)

#1 Post by yuul »

Hello,
I was wondering whether anyone got "Streamlink" working and could post an easy way to install it?

~Then I found this forum-section, and was wondering if maybe it could be added to the reopsitory? :lion:

It's a fork of the abandoned "Livestreamer", a program to watch twich.tv and similar streams without a browser and in a videoplayer of your choice...
you simply do:

Code: Select all

streamlink --player=mpv twitch.tv/followgrubby 720p
(I love it  )

https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink

(the installation methods there didn't work for me, but I'm no expert at it :~p)

Using this handy page: https://repology.org/metapackage/streamlink/versions

we see that the latest version is in Debian Testing, so we should be able to backport it.

Hello, thx for answering :-)

The site you linked shows that streamlink is already present in the antix-17 repo, ...could I just add this line to the sources.list

Code: Select all

deb http://nl.mxrepo.com/antix/stretch/ stretch main nosystemd
, or would that break/mess up anything?

Here's the link to the backported version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bMEyX ... j4enZ4WQ3N You can install the python3-pycountry deb and then the streamlink deb by clicking them.

It will be in the test repo soon.

:number1: :>) TY very much... it's working <3

(hope it isn't too troublesome to 'backport' things like this from testing/sid ? ...is it much more complicated to include software which is only on git and not in debian at all? (..just so I know, in case this situation comes up again :~p))

thx again :spinning:

Yes, it makes it much easier to package if someone else has already done all the work for you, and nobody does it better than Debian.

There's a site called repology that can search many distro repositories for a package, and let you know if it's the current release: https://repology.org/metapackage/streamlink/versions

The version in the antiX repo is our backported version. We beat the usually so fast MX packagers by about 6 weeks!
