Whoops--I did not realize that Debian had split the older fbreader into several separate packages--I'll see if I can do the same with the new one. In the meantime, you should be able to install the new one if libzlcore-data is removed first.

Code: Select all

apt remove libzlcore-data
apt-get autoremove
apt install fbreader

Can you cut and paste those errors in a code box here? The command should remove the older fbreader and some other packages that are part of it, but that's what I intend.

Try uninstalling fbreader first, then.

Anyway, installing the first single deb fbreader 0.99.4 update I did will also cause complications with the multipart one I'm finishing up--but if that's installed, just uninstalling it will get rid of everything. We need to see how the new multipart one will upgrade over the stock Jessie one once it's in the repo--it took quite a bit of tweaking in the rules files to get it to build correctly.

Edit: anyway, this command should get back to the Debian version (remember that aptitude can present several solutions, read the output carefully and hit "n" to go to the next one)

Code: Select all

sudo aptitude install fbreader=0.12.10dfsg-9.1+b1

OK, that cleared out apt notifier. Anything besides uninstalling for now?

Well, I just threw it the new version into one of my existing OBS repos so I can test how it upgrades over the old Jessie version in a few minutes. I have the new MX version built, but it needs at least five or six packages instead of one, so I am not eager to list all the instructions on how to install them manually; I'd rather let the apt system just do it automagically.
