Tried to download the deb from the Lazaurus site but could never get it all.
Could be the dubious connection from this small hotel in eastern Venezuela.
I'll get it from the repo. Just seems right. :)
Regards.
Not necessarily your connection Richard. I tried the download too, there were pieces missing.
Regards.

Thanks Gordon.

After sitting in the lobby the other night, since the wifi wouldn't connect on my floor,
I decided to take a look at the router in the hallway, when no one was watching.
Pressed the reset button and had good wifi all evening.
Tonight it was down again. Pressed the reset and it's working again.

So, I'll try the repo. I can start writing even though this netbook is not a speed demon,
it's fast enough. Just wanted to see the new version. ;)

Stevo & Richard.
It's over a month since I last commented on this, but have had a few (non-computer) committments to deal with first.
I'm still having problems with Lazarus 1.2.2, the compiler objects to some of the packaged units. Have talked to the Lazarus
gurus about this and opinion is that some units may have an incorrect date. Hopefully I can now put more time into
this, will report progress eventually.

Yes, life does get in the way.
Haven't written much these last several years,
but do really enjoy watching the compiler work.

Progress. After wrestling with various options, I have now upgraded Lazarus to 1.2.4 while not reloading
the fpc 2.6.4 files. Laz 1.2.4. appeared at about the same time as Stevo was making up the 1.2.2 package
and there may have been an unannounced change to the 2.6.4

As of today, the compiler has stopped complaining about dates and I can write & run simple applications.
Next step will be to find a work around for the dbf and multiple indexing that I wrote in Delphi years ago.
MX based Lazarus seems to be a bit confused (like me).
Gordon.

struggled with Lazarus install and failed. I remember though, there have always been glaring problems with Lazarus out of the box.

This thread was for MX 14, though I have no problem installing our backported 1.4.4 for MX 15 using Synaptic. Maybe if you provided information about what you tried and how it failed, the problem can be solved.

well - by now I actually succeeded

I suggest to not use any Pascal .deb at all, rather use fcpup which works sometimes:

Over a year since I worked (tried to) with Lazarus. Too many problems and not enough time. I then needed my Delphi/Topaz databases for tech support to a group I was working with so stoked up XP on a spare machine to run Delphi and put FPC/Lazarus on the back burner. It is still there and will not be revived in the near future.
Backup: Dell9010, MX-19_B2, Win7, 120 SSD, WD 232GIB HD, 4GB RAM
Primary :Homebrew64 bit Intel duo core 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Kingston SSD, Seagate1TB.
MX-18.2 64bit. Also MX17, Kubuntu14.04 & Puppy 6.3.

yeah though it has potential it next to never runs "out of the box". A guy once fixed the 5 button mouse events, but it never made it upstream. shame.
