FreeCAD request

#1 Post by Caesar2 » Wed May 01, 2013 12:45 pm

Would anyone be interested in packaging FreeCAD for M11?

FreeCAD is a parametric 3D modeler. Parametric modeling allows you to easily modify your design by going back into your model history and changing its parameters. FreeCAD is open source (LGPL license) and completely modular, allowing for very advanced extension and customization.

FreeCAD is multiplatfom, and reads and writes many open file formats such as STEP, IGES, STL and others.

Thanks in advance.

BTW, there is a downloadable package for Ubuntu on the FreeCAD website, if that helps.

On most recent distributions such as Debian, FreeCAD is included in the official distribution's packages repository, and you are advised to preferably get FreeCAD from there, to make sure you have a version that is 100% compatible with your system.

Thanks. Thought I knew how to use the repo but found out otherwise. Got it up and running!

A little unearthing but I won't open a new thread for this.
For those who are interested, FreeCad version 0.17 is available through AppImage.
