Linux Video Converter
I took a look at it--I think it's a bit overhyped, since it's just a front end to mencoder, and all it does now is convert to Flash video. Maybe when it adds a few more formats?

There is another program that is a front end to memcoder as well. However, it is only out for KDE 4.

"QVideoConverter is an GUI for mencoder and provides an simple way to convert files/dvds to DivX videos."
Believe I got a deb of this for Ubuntu from getdeb.net back a few months ago. Never got it working, as I do not use KDE 4. The is qvideoconverter_0.3.1-1_i386.deb Also its no longer on the getdeb site.

The search for knowledge, is its own reward.
Avidemux does a pretty good job for many formats--I showed a fellow at work how to use the IPod preset to convert video on the Windows version, and it it played perfectly.

Re: Linux Video Converter
Winff is in the repos
WinFF is a graphical user interface for FFmpeg. It will convert
almost any video file that FFmpeg will convert. WinFF does multiple
files in multiple formats at one time. You can, for example, convert
mpeg's, flv's, and mov's into avi's (or DVD/VCD format or MPEG or 3gp
etc.) all at once.

Re: Linux Video Converter
There are so many online video converters now that are able to convert videos freely. And you do not need to install any program. For instance, clip converter, convert2mp3, OnlineVideoConverter, Zamzar and more: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/ti ... erter.html
Among them, I favor clip converter most (http://www.clipconverter.cc/). It allows me to convert videos or audio files to a variety of formats. and the converting steps are quite simple. So you can have a try.
