I know, when I saw a shot of that in a dev thread, posted by dolphin, I was thinking great minds think alike.

Hehe! Mine is hardly a 'great mind' but thank you. I've always seen those Mepis mountains as pyramids :)

I thought it was good fun myself, a bit of a "joke" placeholder wallpaper.

And they were pyramids originally.

I think the whole idea with the pyramids came from Warren who explained that MEPIS should be pronounced as Memphis without the extra "m" and "h". Then it kind of blended between mountains and pyramids because Warren was located in West Virginia "mountain mamma" :D

In addition according to wikipedia, and I heard him confirm this in an interview.

Originally, the word "MEPIS" didn't mean anything in particular; it came about by mistake. When Woodford misunderstood a friend over the telephone, he decided to use the name because it was a simple five-letter word and there were no other companies or products with that name.

Mepis - Memphis ...yeah that makes sense, especially with the sun rising behind it, I believe that was a pretty common design in ancient Egypt. I do know it was a logo used by Thor Heyerdahl for his 'Ra' reed boats in the early 1970's.

Ah, Thor, he had some cooky ideas but his books were entertaining.

This is my train of thought:

MX18 Continuum ==> Stargate Continuum ==> Stargate the movie/TV series ==> Goa'uld Ra and Ancient Egypt ==> Pyramids!

Love it! Haha.

I interpreted them as pyramids (tho, most say the whole Giza thing was a misunderstanding). When I made my lappy sticker I added a sunburst gleaming from the mythical capstone -- which I hope to someday make up a story about. Lol.

Son, someday all this will belong to your ex wife.
