Calling for MX-18 conkies

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

We are in *market* for new conkies to be included by default with the next version of MX. Should be along the lines of what we used as default in MX-17 and MX-17.1. I will post a couple I have collected already to give an idea of the range.

Here are our criteria:

--aesthetically interesting, elegant, etc.
--leaning toward the simple type
--no weather
--preference for creativity over data dump

There are many potential candidates in the long thread Conky Helps.

So here are two very different ones: the first is a simple one that I created from an existing conky by adding a short system line and changing colors with MX Conky. The other is part of a series by Hervé Simonnet on futuristic conkies. The second will need editing for inclusion in MX.

So, what do you have?

Wanted to show how effective that simple one can be when colors are adjusted for the wallpaper.

In case someone wants to suggest a favorite ready-made theme, hundreds of themes with screenshots are showcased here:

Here an oldie but goodie which I've used for a long time - modified - from Voyager Linux. I got it from their 13.04 release. They have tons of conkies that come as default, controlled by their own French-language conky management program.

It's called conky10-TimeFull. Modded to make use of the colour change wheel in MX-Conky, and also to add kernel, disk free details, plus add shades (outlines) to the fonts so that the text show up better.

Here is a more detailed one, but hopefully the info is laid out with some elegance. It's time to have a conky that has a script that displays music being played by our default player, Clementine.

Modded from one I found on the Solus forum posted by their member Bridouz:
- changed logo to an MX one made by Antech
- swapped his MPD media player script for one that can work with Clementine. Script from here: http://amhndu.github.io/Projects/conky-cards.html
- some colour and visual changes.

The Data line would be removed as that refers to my specific data partitions. The logo is part of the conky.
