Unetbootin, my maiden voyage ;)

Here you can post about what you did to get MEPIS to work right with your computer or if hardware worked right out of the box for you. This is for the computers and/or hardware that is normally hard to get working right in Linux or MEPIS.

Worth a try but I suspect the smaller drive is too small for /,
especially if you try to install a few extras such as KDE.

Wasn't MX originally conceived just for these things? I'm thinking 4G would be plenty for root on a stock install. (Sure, installing KDE would add a bunch more.)

On my current install I have 7.1gb used on root, and almost 9gb on home, so that for me would be pushing it. I'd rather just get me a 16 or even 32 gb sdhc card class 10 then and keep the install of winxp as is.

Yes, might manage a stock install, but I bet E.W. would not be satisfied with that ;)

I want it all.. and I want it now!

ok.. maybe sometime this week, it IS Sunday after all.

Now that we're talking sdcards.. is there a benefit for getting one of those 80mb/s cards instead of the standard 40mb/s ones? Both are class 10 by the way.

But the dev team decided after much user feedback that it was no longer feasible for a mid-weight distro to be cd size (which is around 3GB installed)

I think that antix would fit on the hard drives like they are. It is all a matter of "what do you want" and what is available of course.

Excellent link richb. I do use Eject for Optical Media, sometimes.

I've never bothered partitioning a FlashDrive. But my largest is only 16 GB (GiB ?).
Yes, even I am dishonest. Not in many ways, but in some. Forty-one, I think it is.

Sandisk 32gb class 10 sdhc card 40mb/s speed has been ordered. That one store had the best deal available plus I will have it sometime this week (it gets shipped tomorrow).

I will let you all know how the eeepc is doing when things get cracking ;)

This all thanks to unetbootin, I could not have done this without that application. Thanks for including it!

And once again thanks for the wonderful support of all the people here on this forum!

I know about that discussion. But the bog standard base install of MX-64 I did the other night is showing as 3.2G, and that's including home. So I think it would be doable, as long as she didn't load it up with a bunch of extra packages.
